Thursday, August 20th, 2009

Little critters are filling up my studioerinzam shop! I added ten new friends, each hand painted with acrylic paint on paper. Each is set within a discarded library book, containing a hand lettered poem. Feel free to take a look at all ten of them!

New Etsy shop – Studioerinzam

Monday, August 17th, 2009

I thought long and hard about splitting apart my Etsy shop into two focuses: book binding and fine art. Recently, I gave it a try, and so now my fine art and prints are located at All of my hand bound books and book binding kits are still located at I’m curious to see if it will create a better shopping experience for users. If you have any thoughts on this approach, or have tried splitting apart your Etsy shop, I would love to know how it has or has not worked!

New DIY Kit – Business Card Book

Saturday, August 1st, 2009

After fumbling through a box of business cards looking for one specific card for the umpteenth time, I finally smartened up! I created a business card book to keep my card collection organized and in one place.

Since I know that I’m not the only one with this problem, I created a simple kit and template so that you can be organized too! Each little kit comes complete with detailed instructions and hole punch template, hand screen printed (100% recycled) book covers, metal book ring and rubber band closure. All that you need is a regular hole punch and your own collection of business cards!

Kits are available on Etsy.

Soft and cuddly software!

Thursday, June 4th, 2009

This is a project that I did for fun. A group of friends (all designers) are coming to visit later this summer and I want to surprise each of them with their favorite design software icon in pillow form. I was inspired by a similar set of pillows that I saw on the net. I stitched together the icons for Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver and Flash. They’re so soft and cuddly, I wish I could keep them!

Geek Books

Brand spanking new! I created these little books from real, vintage computer punch cards and green bar computer paper. This is an ode to the computer lover in notebook form. They’re actually great for non-computer lovers too, since they tuck nicely away into a pocket for jotting notes on the go. They are entirely handmade, from the hand cut pages to the custom button and string closure. Pick up your very own in my Etsy shop.

Many thanks to my friend, Peter, who discovered these cool computer cards and came up with the idea of turning them into little books!

Santa Monica Festival – 2009

Wednesday, May 13th, 2009

The Santa Monica Festival came and went, and Ben and I had a great time. We debuted a new way to present our prints, mounted to wood blocks. We also made a special effort to make as many of our products earth-friendly as possible. Our prints and block prints were all printed onto 100% post consumer recycled papers, the wood for the blocks came from sustainable sources, and most of the books were made from recycled materials.

Many of our friends made it out for the festival, and we had a fun time spending the beautiful day together. We also met up with a couple other great Etsy sellers, Ohma! and Tyler Bender Book Co.

Santa Monica Festival – 2009

Saturday, May 2nd, 2009

One week from today is the Santa Monica Festival! Ben and I are gearing up and getting very excited for the event. I am working on a selection of books made from recycled materials, and we both have a few new items that we will introduce, including new prints by Ben and a new way to present and hang our existing prints. Stay tuned for updates throughout this week as I post our new projects!

We would love to have you join us at the Festival if you are in the area! It is coming up on Saturday, May 9 (11 am – 6 pm) in Clover Park, here in Santa Monica, CA. The festival is free, kid-friendly, and focused on environmental sustainability. Ben and I will have our own tent in the “marketplace” area, displaying our art. For more information, check out the Santa Monica Festival website.
