Japanese Binding Kit and Tutorial
Hot off the press! These kits have been in the works for some time now, and are finally ready to be revealed! Hopefully, they will provide the opportunity easily learn a few bindings. I am thinking that this would be a good start for a newbie book binder, and perhaps a step toward more involved projects. I started from scratch to create computer drawn illustrations as well as written instructions for four different Japanese Stab Bindings. In addition to all four tutorials each kit comes with hole punch templates, a collection of found papers, a special hand screen printed book plate page, waxed linen thread and a needle. Choose to make one of the bindings with the included supplies and once you get the hang of it, you can make the other bindings with different materials. Kits are available here in my Etsy shop. Happy binding!

Darn! I went to purchase this kit and it is no longer there! you must have sold out. I have never tried bookbinding before, but from your photo of directions, you make it seem doable.
I hope you make more! i really enjoy your blog and your work!

I’m so happy that this is something of interest! I do have more! I had just posted a few for sale at a time, and must’ve been out when you checked. I just added more. And perhaps I can work something out with international buyers who don’t have PayPal. Just send me an email.

I would love to purchase this kit and actually just attempted to. However, I thought with etsy there was the option to pay with a credit card, but I didn’t see it as an option. I no longer have a paypal account as someone stole my password and charged over $500.00 to my account. Could you email me if perhaps I can pay you another way…like a check…once it clears you can then send the kit to me? Let me know. Thanks so much! This kit looks fantastic!

That’s a good point, Melissa! I am happy to accept other forms of payment. If anyone else is having the same problem trying to pay without using PayPal, feel free to send me an email and we can work it out.

I got my kit yesterday! Now I just need to find the time to play!
Your directions look very easy to follow and the design of the whole kit is really cool. Thanks Erin!
I do not have a paypal acct. When it came up for payment, either paypal or bill later came up and not the 3rd option as melissa said. I clicked on the paypal symbol, but did not need to sign in for paypal, I just put in my credit info and it went through. hope that helps.

These are wonderful. Wish I had thought of it. My students could really use something like this for their first project.
Also glad to hear that you are having so much interest in them on Etsy.
